I’ve just added the program phpgedview on my website. This allows me to publish (and edit) all the genealogy information I have on my father’s side from any computer with web access. I’ll be updating it with info from my mother’s side soon. If you would like to help me out in this endeavor, please click the link above, then click ‘login’ at the top, and request an account. Note, information on living persons can only be viewed by registered users.

drama

We’ve been pretty busy lately with drama-related stuff. I was asked to run lights (again) for a play that the Historical Society is presenting. In the process, Amanda & I both were roped into playing small parts, and I’m now doing sound for it as well. It’s a fun little one-act about some mannequins who attempt to thwart a robbery in the clothing store where they ‘work’.

We had tryouts for the High School play last week, and started practice on Monday. We did a read-through then, and had another practice on Thursday. This semester we’re doing a full-length play about a bunch of pirates and a group of people stranded on ‘their’ island. It’s going to be quite interesting as we only had girls tryout, so all the male parts (pirates & natives) will be played by females. That always makes me laugh, so I’m sure it will work out quite well.

boost

We finally moved into our new house last Friday. I think I have pictures on my laptop somewhere, so I’ll have to post those. Once we have everything all painted, I’ll take some more so we can get a before/after type view of it. We are painting all the rooms upstairs, and having to pull wallpaper off in the living room, and carpet out of the bed rooms. Had been working pretty steady since we moved in on Friday, and I was wondering when we were going to feel like we had made any progress.

Then yesterday, my aunt, uncle and grandma showed up, and things went like lightning. We got all the wallpaper off (even the border in the spare room). The carpet is all gone (nice hardwood floors underneath), and the slime pit which existed under the stove is now gone. I was also able to get a bunch of nail holes patched before we finally crashed for the evening. Now we just need to paint, and things will really start looking good (it already looks a lot better).

bliss

I think married people tend to take their marriage for granted sometimes. At least, I’ve been a bit guilty of that lately. It’s not that we don’t love and appreciate our spouse. That’s not what I’m trying to say. We watched ‘Family Man’ last night, and it made me think. What would life be like without my wife? Yikes. Scary. Miserable. In the movie, John Campbell leaves his college girlfriend in the US to be an intern in the UK. He tells her that a year will never change his love for her. In fact, he claims that a hundred years could never change it. Thirteen years later, he is still single, back in NYC, and living a ‘good’ life. He tells a man ‘Everybody needs something’. To which the man replies, ‘Then what do you need?’ He smugly replies, ‘Nothing. I’ve got everything.’ Read more

play

Babies have the coolest toys…ever. This weekend I’m visiting my aunt and uncle, and my cousin is up from missouri, so I get to see their daughter, Kira, for the first time ever. I held her, she cried. Chrystine took her back, immediately, she was silent. For the rest of the night, we ate, and watched Kira play with all her toys. It’s dreadfully exciting, mostly because I wonder, “why didn’t I have cool toys like that when I was a baby?” Of course, even if I did, I wouldn’t remember them. In all, it’s been pretty exciting, but now I’m feeling rather uninspired.

outlaws

Had the family over this weekend. It was crazy, and fun, and tiring, and after it was all said and done, I’m glad we did it. Got a lot done, got a new mower, realized I’m still not perfect, and ate lots of food. The yard looks amazing, thanks to Mandy’s parents. I’ll have to take some pictures and upload them. The first thing I need to do is completely revamp the gallery. Sad day, but it has to happen. I was using an unstable version of Gallery, and it finally caught up to me. So I’m going to start that as soon as i finish here.

toys

I like snow. I even like ice. I just think it should stay off the road and keep out from under my tires. Mandy and I left for Nebraska on Thursday afternoon, and hit the worst weather ever near Pierre, South Dakota. We drove 45 mph for the next eon, and finally arrived in North Platte on Friday at 3:00 AM. Almost went in the ditch once, and that was exciting. At least the bad roads kept me awake.
We spent the majority of the weekend doing wedding “stuff”. It wasn’t too bad, and I’m still alive. I was actually excited to get back to work this time. We got all the parts for our new storage server, as well as 2 Kodak DX7630’s. It was awesome, and we had lots of fun today playing with our new toys. The edn (sorry, edn killed end in a drive-by shooting on Saturday).

mix n match

Well, today started out pretty good. We went to Aberdeen and got Mandy’s ring back, but it needs to be smaller still, so that’s frustrating. We had a pretty good time overall though, but then I got home, and one of my fish was dead. I had him in quarantine, and he jumped out of the container and fell on the floor. So I sent him to fishy heaven. Tis sad, cause I was just going to move him to a bigger tank when I got home, and try to breed him and Elbereth this week. Oh well, I’m going to go eat an egg sandwich.

bells

I am now engaged to the love of my life. I’ll be getting married in August in Nebraska. Now I actually have an excuse to celebrate February 14th, since I don’t believe in Valentine’s Day. I’m taking a break from calling all the friends and relatives to update this page. I’ll have to email all the people I don’t have phone numbers for or people that weren’t home (Afton). Well, that’s all for now.

valentine

I don’t believe in Valentine’s Day. Now, before you all think I’m an unromantic stick in the mud, hear me out. It’s not that I don’t believe in celebrating love, there’s actually several good reasons. First, I don’t like to be predictable. There’s no way on this earth that you can surprise a girl on Valentine’s Day. Why? Because they are already expecting something. Second, it’s a cheat for jerks. They can forget and neglect their wives (and girlfriends, and fiances) all year long, and just make up for it on Valentine’s Day when the whole world is reminding them to remember the love that they misplaced last year on February 15. Thirdly, I don’t know who Saint Valentine was, neither do I have any idea why I should love my girlfriend more on his day than any other day.
Lest you think I really am a heartless jerk that doesn’t want to spend money on flowers and chocolates, Mandy and I celebrated love yesterday, February 11.
